More Information

Kia ora koutou,

At the Horowhenua College 1st XV Rugby Reunion in March 2023.

Together with the school and his family, we announced The Patrick Mooney Award - a significant opportunity to remember a friend, teammate, son and brother; to celebrate our shared values; to stay connected to each other and the school; and to give back by helping current students achieve their goals.

Firstly, we would like to thank the Mooney Family for their support and blessing to help us make Paddy's award happen.

The basic idea is to provide a senior Horowhenua College student with both an annual financial contribution towards the cost of their post-school study and access to mentors who can help with that study and/or a chosen career. The winner will have already displayed the qualities and values that exemplify Patrick and which we share. Students wanting to be considered will apply via this website and a small panel, made up of representatives from his family, the school and his teammates and friends will select the recipient. The award will be presented at the School’s senior prizegiving by a member of Patrick’s family or a panel Representative.

The website is now open for submissions from current students for this year's Award ceremony.
